After days of extreme heat, the first heat storms may appear soon. Their first wave is expected during tomorrow, and the next one, already significantly more pronounced, should arrive on Monday. In the coming days, temperatures in our territory will continue to rise and it is not excluded that they will approach the +40 °C mark, informs .
Today should still be calm, but at the same time very hot. Tomorrow’s temperatures may approach the Slovak temperature record of +40.3 °C measured on July 20, 2007 in Hurbanov. From tomorrow, the heat will gradually peak, and in the afternoon the first heat storms may begin to form, especially in mountainous areas. There should be more of them with each passing day.
For now, strong storms are mainly concentrated over Western Europe – hit Great Britain and during the past night, storm activity began to manifest itself in France as well. Today he is to move to West Germany.
In the course of tomorrow, however, the first storms will begin to appear in Slovakia as well. While the extremely hot weather will continue in the lowlands, in the mountainous areas, especially in central Slovakia, cumulus clouds will begin to increase during the afternoon, from which showers and storms may form. These will mainly be stationary storms that will move only very slowly, and therefore there may be a risk of torrential rains.
On Monday, a cold front will approach our territory, which will bring a higher probability of storms. First, they will start forming again in mountainous areas, but in the afternoon they can also appear in the west and northwest of Slovakia. The most significant storm activity is so far expected on Wednesday, when a cold front should advance through Slovakia. This will end the wave of hot weather and at the same time bring more intense storms.
