The Polish Agency for Internal Security (ABW) announced on Monday that it had uncovered the mechanism of the use of Ukrainian refugees in Poland for activities initiated and financed by Russia. They detained a total of 11 people who are to be expelled from the country, reports the Warsaw correspondent TASR.
- The Polish agency revealed the abuse of Ukrainian refugees by Russia.
- The goal was to manipulate the refugee community through protests.
- The funding and organization came from Russia, according to authorities.
- They detained 11 people, including nine Ukrainians and two Belarusians.
ABW, in cooperation with the Border Guard, intervened in Warsaw, Wrocław, Krakow, Zakopane and Bydgoszcz. Among those detained are nine citizens of Ukraine and two citizens of Belarus.
They gradually influenced the communities
“Since the fall of 2025, these people have been recruiting and financing demonstrations organized among Ukrainian refugees in Poland,” Tomasz Siemoniak, minister for the coordination of special services, wrote on the X network. According to ABW, the funds intended for these activities should have come from Russia.
The goal of the organizers was to gradually influence the environment of Ukrainian refugees in Poland and use this community to spread political slogans. According to ABW, they used topics provoking strong emotions, including information about corruption scandals and current domestic political events in Ukraine, to organize the protests. According to ABW, this is part of activities aimed at weakening social trust and deepening tensions through influence operations.
