The release this Wednesday a letter aimed at Catholics, following the example of the document addressed, at the beginning of June, to the segment. The party seeks to get closer to religious segments to boost the re-election campaign of President Luiz Inácio da Silva (PT).
The text will be written as a conclusion to the meeting with representatives of the religious segment, which took place on Tuesday night (30), in person and virtually.
Once again, the abortion controversy should be left out of the manifesto. Coordinator of the PT’s interreligious sector, Gutierres Barbosa states that this is an issue that has been overcome within the party. “We are worried about our country. We found a broken country,” he said.
Gutierres cites the number of victims of the Covid-19 pandemic to state that, with its social policies, the PT defends life to its fullest.
“This issue is very outdated within the PT, which is why it does not appear in any discussion,” he said, adding that “defending life is defending life in its entirety.”
On June 8, a Monday, First Lady da Silva responded to criticism made by pastor Silas Malafaia of the meetings she held with evangelical women and stated that the religious leader is “insignificant”. Janja gave the statements during the 4th National Meeting of PT Evangelicals.
For the meeting with Catholics, she sent a video, to be released this Tuesday (30).
