Haaland and company will be the Brazilian team’s next opponents in the World Cup.
Norway beat Ivory Coast 2-1 this Tuesday (30) and will face Brazil in the round of 16, on Sunday (5), at 5pm, in East Rutherford, New Jersey (USA).
The European team was inferior to the African team for most of the match, but showed opportunism to guarantee classification. Antonio Nusa opened the scoring in the 38th minute of the first half, and Diallo equalized with a beautiful individual play in the final stage.
The duel was heading into extra time when Patrick Berg crossed into the area. The ball went past three defenders, and Haaland, almost accidentally touching it lightly, sent it into the net.
Brazil’s future opponent has a favorable record against the Brazilian team, against which it has never lost. There have been four clashes so far, one of them in the World Cup: in 1998, in the group stage, the Norwegians won 2-1.
The European team’s main difference is Haaland, who has scored five goals in the competition, behind only Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé, who have scored six.
On the other side will be defender Gabriel Magalhães, with whom the Manchester City striker had recent disagreements in clashes between City and Arsenal.
Mbappé shone once again. With two goals, the French star was the highlight of the convincing victory of the team led by Didier Deschamps over Sweden. Barcola also found the back of the net and closed the score at 3-0.
With the goals, Mbappé surpassed Klose and became the second highest scorer in the history of World Cups, behind only Lionel Messi. Before the match, the Frenchman and the German had combined for 16 goals.
In the World Cup artillery in North America (Canada/Mexico/USA), Mbappé shares the lead with Messi, both with six goals.
The result guaranteed France in the round of 16, where they will face Paraguay on Saturday (4), at 6pm, in Philadelphia. The South Americans eliminated Germany on penalties on Monday (29).
Driven by a packed Azteca Stadium, the Mexican team dominated Ecuador and qualified for the round of 16 with authority.
In the 2-0 victory, the home team were vastly superior to their South American rivals and won with goals from Quiñones and Raúl Jiménez.
Mexico maintained its 100% record in the competition, winning all matches played. There were four. Furthermore, the team has yet to concede goals in the World Cup.
Ecuador, on the other hand, said goodbye to the competition with a performance below expectations. The team had finished the South American Qualifiers in second place, but only won one match in the World Cup, against Germany.
Now, the Mexicans await the winner of the clash between England and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The English and Congolese take the field this Wednesday (1st), at 1pm.
