According to the investigation so far, the man was sitting by the rails at a place about two kilometers from the railway station in Parndorf, the Austrian police announced on Monday. The train driver called the emergency services

After the accident on Sunday evening, the train driver called the emergency services, but they were unable to help the Slovak citizen. He died at the scene of the accident, the regional police headquarters in the Austrian state of Burgenland said in a statement.

The exact circumstances of the accident will be the subject of an ongoing investigation, the announcement says, adding that in addition to the rescue service, 27 members of the Parndorf fire department with five vehicles were deployed.
