An attempt by the left to reduce working hours has taken over social media in recent days. Representative Erika Hilton (Psol-RJ) is trying to collect signatures to present a Proposed Amendment to the Constitution (PEC) to reduce the current 6×1 working day, of 44 hours per week, currently permitted by labor legislation.
The Psol deputy’s intention is for workers to start working four days a week, taking the other three days off, totaling 36 hours per working week. This journey is called the 4×3 scale. The deputy’s justification is that the current 6×1 working day takes away the worker’s right to “spend time with family, to take care of themselves, to have fun”. For Erika Hilton, “the 6×1 scale is a prison” and “it is inhumane”.
On social media, the deputy and the founder of a movement to reduce working hours, Rick Azevedo, claim to have mobilized 1.3 million people in favor of the proposal. Azevedo also signaled that a national act is being mobilized to support the end of the 6×1 round.
Despite the repercussion on social media, according to a post made on the congresswoman’s social media, the proposal has not yet reached half of the signatures that are necessary for the PEC to actually be debated in Congress. 171 signatures from deputies are needed for the proposal on the end of the 6×1 day to be processed.
