The Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN), an international association that supports investigative journalism, is open for registration until February 28th for the Global Shining Light Award, an award that honors investigative journalism in the Global South.
Held every two years, the initiative is aimed at professionals from emerging and developing countries. The winners will receive US$2,500 (about R$15,000) and a trip to the 14th edition of the Global Investigative Journalism Conference, which takes place from November 21 to 24, 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.
The award is divided into two categories: large vehicles (with more than 20 employees) and small and medium-sized ones (with 20 employees or less, including freelancers). The materials submitted must have been published between January 1, 2023 and December 31, 2024.
the Global Shining Light Award received 419 entries from 84 countries. Winners are chosen by an international panel of experts in investigative journalism. The judges, at their discretion, may nominate more than one winner to recognize exceptional work.
