Only the two teams can still win the 2024 Series A title

With two rounds left until the end of the Brazilian Championship, only Botafogo and Palmeiras remain with a chance of winning the national competition title. Internacional and Fortaleza, who lost at the weekend to Flamengo and Vitória, respectively, said goodbye to their chances of winning.
Botafogo is the leader of the tournament, with 73 points. Palmeiras occupies second place, with 70 points. According to the Department of Mathematics at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), the Rio team’s chances of lifting the trophy are 78.1%. The probability of the alviverde team is 21.9%.
In the penultimate round of the Brasileirão, Botafogo visits Internacional, on Wednesday, at Beira-Rio, in Porto Alegre. Palmeiras, in turn, faces Cruzeiro, also on Wednesday, at the Mineirão stadium, in Belo Horizonte.
If Botafogo wins and Palmeiras stumbles, the black and white team will win the title this mid-week. In another scenario, if the Botafoguenses draw and the São Paulo team is defeated, the Rio team will win the cup.
In the last round of the Brazilian Championship, both Botafogo and Palmeiras play at home. The Rio team faces São Paulo at Engenhão, in Rio de Janeiro. Coach Abel Ferreira’s team hosts Fluminense at Allianz Parque, in São Paulo.
