Nothing stops you from stuffing Polish dumplings served on Christmas Eve with it. This is a great way to combine Polish tradition with Italian symbolism. Thanks to this simple procedure, you can add a modern touch to your Christmas Eve dinner.

In addition to their unique importance, lentils are rich in nutritional value, especially protein. It contains minerals such as iron, potassium, phosphorus and magnesium. Contained in it B vitamins support the metabolism and production of red blood cells. They also have a good effect on the digestive system. In turn, tannin compounds have anti-cancer properties.

Dumplings are best made with red lentilswhich is easy to overcook and is easily absorbed. If you have green or yellow you can use that too.

What ingredients do we need to make lentil stuffing for dumplings? Here is the list:

  • 1 cup of lentils;
  • 1 onion;
  • 2 cloves of garlic;
  • 1 egg;
  • spices: salt, pepper, marjoram, hot pepper.

First, pour water over the raw lentils and cook them until soft. In the meantime, fry the diced onion in a pan. Combine these two ingredients with pressed garlic, egg and spices.

Place the prepared stuffing on a baking tray . Then we form dumplings and cook them in boiling water.

On Christmas Eve we serve dumplings with lentils with browned onion or sour cream. Every day we can serve them with cracklings.
