Feature film by Walter Salles will compete in the “Best Foreign Language Film” category; Winner will be announced on January 12th
A released this Thursday (Dec 12, 2024) the nominees in the television and cinema categories of the 30th edition of the awards. Among those nominated is the feature film “I’m still here”by Brazilian director Walter Salles, which will compete in the “Best Foreign Language Film” category.
The feature film will compete for the award with the following films: “Everything we imagine as light”, “Emilia Pérez”, “Flow”, “Kneecap” e “The seed of the sacred fig tree”.
The winner will be announced on January 12th, at an event in Santa Monica, USA. In Brazil, the awards ceremony will be broadcast by and on TNT, at 9pm.
I’m Still Here
The film “I’m Still Here” is based on the book of the same name by Marcelo Rubens Paiva. The film has already won awards such as “Best Screenplay” at the Venice Film Festival, where it was applauded by spectators present.
It was also considered eligible to be nominated for an Oscar in the “Best International Film” category.
In the United States, the film hits theaters in January for screenings in Los Angeles and New York, with expanded screenings across the rest of the country in February. In Europe, it has already participated in festivals such as the 72nd edition of the San Sebastián Festival, in Spain; the 68th London Film Festival; and the 33rd edition of the Biarritz Amérique Latine Festival, in France.
The production portrays the life of Eunice Paiva (played by Fernanda Torres), wife of Rubens Paiva (played by Selton Mello). She becomes a human rights activist after her husband disappears during the military dictatorship.
