A car that was traveling in the opposite direction last morning on the Madrid M-45 ring road, for unknown reasons, collided head-on with a VTC. As a result of the impact, the first vehicle began to burn and the driver managed to get out of the car under his own power. Both drivers were injured and taken to hospitals.
The accident occurred around one in the morning this Friday at kilometer 10 of the M-45, on the outer road, within the district of Villaverde. The Madrid City Council firefighters have extinguished the fire and have secured the other car involved, which has suffered a lot of damage due to a very strong impact. In fact, both cars have been separated by many meters.
The Samur has attended to the two drivers. The person in the car that was going in the opposite direction, a Volkswagen Passat that has been completely burned, is a 54-year-old man who has suffered a rib bruise and who has been transferred to the Gregorio Marañón hospital with a moderate prognosis. The driver of the VTC is a 59-year-old man with chest trauma who has been evacuated as potentially serious as of October 12. Potentially serious, in medical jargon, means that no serious injuries are seen but, given the force of the crash, it is possible that you have internal injuries, requiring further examinations and tests in the hospital.
The Civil Guard, which has tested the driver who caused the accident for alcohol and drugs, is investigating what happened and has closed the central lanes of the M-45 at that point to facilitate the work of the emergency services.
