Demonstration will be at Praça dos Três Poderes from 11 am; according to the organizers, President Lula will participate
The (Workers’ Party) released a video on its social networks calling for an act “in defense of democracy”, to be held on January 8th at Praça dos Três Poderes, starting at 11am. The date marks 2 years since the invasions and depredation of buildings belonging to the Três Poderes, in Brasília.
Initially, the event, which is organized by Frente Brasil Popular, was scheduled for 10 am, but the time was updated.
According to the publicity material, the president (PT) will be present. THE Poder360 contacted Lula’s advisors to confirm the information, who said it would be necessary “wait for the President of the Republic’s agenda”.
In addition to Lula, the publication also states that they will participate in the event “suprapartisan” representatives of the Three Powers, civil society, class and religious entities.
The demonstration will take place over the 2 years of “attempted coup d’état and destruction of the headquarters of the Executive, Legislative and Judiciary powers, promoted by Bolsonaristas on January 8, 2023”.
Also part of the release is a video with images of the invasions of the headquarters of the Three Powers in January 2023 followed by the phrase: “never forget”.
In the video, statements from President Lula, the president of the Senate, (PSD-MG) and the president of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), Roberto Barroso, appear about the episode.
