Karl Nehammer is retiring as chancellor and ÖVP leader “in the next few days” after coalition negotiations with the SPÖ were broken off. He said this on Saturday in a video shared on social media. “Don’t take yourself so seriously” is a sentence that his father passed on to him. He will enable an orderly transition and it has been an honor to serve the country.
