Do you have a small apartment? Give up on these colors because they make the interior look smaller

Dark colors visually make rooms smaller, which is why we rarely find them in bathrooms. This is quite common, but it does not mean that we cannot use any darker colors for smaller interiors. Decorative accents will definitely work. When furnishing a small apartment, we should give up walls, especially in five colors. These colors are best suited to spacious, well-lit living rooms because they visually make the rooms smaller.

Bottle green is one of the most beautiful colors in interior design. It goes perfectly with gold. This is a great color when we are looking for a reference to nature. However, we should be careful with its excess. Especially in small living rooms and kitchens, walls in this color can be overwhelming. If we want to incorporate this element into small interiors, it is worth choosing accessories in this color. For the living room, it can be curtains or an armchair. In the kitchen, tableware will be a good option.

This color goes perfectly with light colors. Bottle green can be easily combined with white, light beige and even delicate pink. This combination – with less greenery – will look great and at the same time will not make the interior optically smaller.

If we want to include a lot of elements in black, it is best to paint the walls in a warm or winter shade of white, depending on our taste – but it is better to choose warmer tones, because cooler, even light ones, combined with dark colors, can make the room smaller.

Black will also go well with wooden elements. It contrasts well with light colors. A classic combination that is better suited to spacious living rooms is the combination of black and gray.

Navy blue walls are beautiful, but they make the interior look smaller. In well-lit living rooms, even if they are smaller, you can consider including this color on one wall. However, in most cases, as with other dark colors, it is better to choose accessories in this color if we have a small apartment.

Navy blue looks great combined with white, which gives a nautical atmosphere to the interior. It can also be combined with various earth tones, light and dark shades of gray, beige, and bottled with green. A slightly bolder, but interesting combination is navy blue with powder pink.

Browns can look great in small rooms, but should be used in moderation, especially when it comes to walls. Small living rooms or rooms are better painted in lighter shades, darker ones can also be included, but this should apply to decorations or furniture. The combination of light walls with dark curtains will look great – if the living room is well lit. If the interior does not have much access to sunlight, it is worth limiting decorations in dark colors, because it may give the impression that the apartment is very small, even though the area may be standard.

Dark brown can be successfully combined with all shades of beige and white. It is best to choose dark brown furniture, because then we have much greater possibilities in terms of arrangement. Light walls will perfectly highlight this type of elements, even in small rooms. When it comes to decorations, it is also worth choosing green, red and blue.
