Israeli defense forces confirmed the veracity of the image; act took place in southern Lebanon
The Israel Defense Forces confirmed the veracity of an image showing an Israeli soldier destroying a statue of Christ in southern Lebanon. This Sunday (April 19, 2026), the military leadership said it considers the attitude “extremely serious”.
According to the post, “appropriate measures will be taken” and soldiers are working to replace the Christian symbol in its original location.
The image was initially published by the Palestinian journalist on X. Before the image was recognized as true, the international spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces, Nadav Shoshani, said that the case was being “thoroughly” analyzed.
