Archaeologists have found a biblical city mentioned in the Old Testament

During excavations in Jordan, an international group of scientists discovered an ancient settlement, which they believe could be the biblical city of Mahanaim.

This place is mentioned in the Old Testament in connection with the biblical kings of Israel.

The research, published in the *Tel Aviv* magazine, is based on archaeological discoveries and analysis of biblical texts. Scientists have found the ruins of buildings decorated with unique sculptures, dating from the 8th century BC. Among the images discovered are people playing musical instruments, lions, palm trees and feast scenes. According to the researchers, the style of these sculptures is similar to the one previously discovered in Egypt, suggesting a connection with the kingdom of Israel. In addition, the geographical location of the settlement found corresponds to the descriptions of the Mahanaim in the Bible.

“We consider this discovery to be an important step in studying the history of ancient Israel,” says one of the authors of the research, Professor Israel Finkelstein. According to the Bible, Mahanaim was the place where the patriarch Jacob met angels. Later, the city became the residence of the kings of Israel, including Ishbaal and David.

New archaeological data confirms the biblical accounts and allows scientists to gain a deeper understanding of the history and culture of ancient Israel.

This discovery represents a significant contribution to the study of the history and ancient culture of the Near East and will undoubtedly arouse special interest both among researchers and the general public.
