Portugal is a regular highlight in the rankings of the TasteAtlas gastronomic guide, but this time the country appears in a less positive context. Traditional chicken gizzards are on the list of the 100 worst dishes in the world, according to reviews from users of the platform. The dish occupies 18th position in the table, with a rating of 2.3 stars.
“Gizzards are a traditional Portuguese dish made from chicken gizzards, slowly cooked in a flavorful sauce of tomato, onion, garlic, white wine and spices. They are typically served as an appetizer or stew, sprinkled with parsley before serving”, describes TasteAtlas, cited by . Despite the detailed description, the dish was not enough to please international palates, receiving one of the worst reviews.
Other Portuguese dishes also appear on the list, such as cakes from São Gonçalo, from Amarante, ranked in 99th position with a score of 2.8 stars. The complete ranking was prepared based on more than 400 thousand evaluations made by users of the guide.
The worst dishes in the world
The Top 10 on the list is dominated by dishes from various countries, with emphasis on Blodpalt, from Finland, which occupies first place. Next come Bocadillo de sardinas, from Spain, and Calskrove, from Sweden. Other delicacies, such as Jellied eels, from England, and Thai Fish Entrails Sour Curry, from Thailand, are also part of the selection.
Despite this less favorable inclusion in the list of the 100 worst dishes in the world, Portuguese cuisine was also recently highlighted in TasteAtlas for positive reasons. Alentejo was voted the 9th best gastronomic region in the world, and pastel de Belém received the title of best pastry at a global level.
