It is a misleading post that, to compare the possessions of the North American and the Brazilian Luiz Inácio da Silva, uses a photo of the PT member smiling while watching a kiss between two men.

The image is real, but, as was possible to verify from a Google Images search, it is from a , and not from January 2023, when Lula began his third term, nor from previous inaugurations. On the occasion of the photo, intellectuals and artists held an event in São Paulo to support Lula’s candidacy for president and against his conviction in the case of the Guarujá (SP) triplex.

The photo used as being from Trump’s inauguration is also not from the event, which took place this Monday (20) — nor from the previous inauguration, in 2017. The click is from May 2015 and shows the Republican with his wife, Melania, in a fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in .

The misleading post was published by a profile that defines itself as humorous, but several followers believed the content. “No comparison” and “what a brutal difference” were some of the comments left. Contacted by the report, the author of the post, who had other content verified by the report, responded in a satirical tone.

Misleading, for Comprova, is content taken from the original context and used in another in such a way that its meaning changes; that uses inaccurate data or that leads to an interpretation different from the intention of its author; content that confuses, with or without the deliberate intent to cause harm.
