Gabriel Medina will make a special appearance at Globo during a WSL (World Surf League) stage. The surfer is not competing this year after having an accident and undergoing a surgical procedure.
Globo owns the rights to transmit the surfing competition in the country and will be attended by the Olympic medalist in a special commentators.
What will Medina do at Globo?
Medina will be present in the broadcast team that will be part of the WSL Abu Dhabi stage, which will take place in a wave pool in an unprecedented way in the history of the surfing world.
The stage starts on February 14th and is scheduled for the 16th. Medina will be present in the comments of the male and female finals. The time will still be defined by the competition organization, which opens the question whether it will be recorded or live.

Gabriel Medina was injured during training at Maresias Beach, in São Sebastião, north coast of São Paulo on January 11. When trying to perform an aerial maneuver, he injured the tendon of the larger pectoral muscle of the left shoulder.
The athlete underwent surgery and will lose the WSL season.
– The surgery was successful and we managed to reconstruct the tendon properly. After the initial recovery period, Gabriel will begin intensive physical therapy sessions and should be able to return to training between four and six months and competitions between six to eight months-explained Breno Schor, medical-orthopedist responsible for the surfer procedure.
WSL season 2025 starts on January 27 in Pipeline, Hawaii. Without Medina, Brazil still has strong names in the circuit. Among them, Tatiana Weston-Webb, Filipe Toledo, Italo Ferreira and João Chianca.

Brazilians at WSL 2025
