Pre-candidate for the state government, the former minister calls the São Paulo scenario “serious”
The former Minister of Finance, stated this Wednesday (May 13, 2026) that the government of (PL) is experiencing the situation “more critical” in the State since the administration of Luiz Antônio Fleury Filho, between 1991 and 1994. “I haven’t seen a situation as critical as it is now here in the State of São Paulo since Fleury. It’s actually worse,” these.
The pre-candidate for the São Paulo government classified as “grave” the state scenario. “What is happening is serious. In public security, in privatizations, in state public schools, in what is happening in health, it is serious”he stated.
The statements were made during a conversation promoted by the Rights Now! Forum for Democracyheld at Casa de Portugal, in São Paulo. The meeting brought together politicians, businesspeople, academics and members of civil society to discuss democracy, development and the Brazilian political scenario.
The former minister also indicated that he is preparing a project to run for the São Paulo government in 2026. Without going into details, he stated that he intends to create a public digital platform to receive suggestions from the population and prepare proposals for areas such as health, education, sanitation, public safety and economic development. According to him, this is one of the main failures of Tarcísio’s management.
When commenting on the 2022 electoral scenario, Haddad stated that part of the electorate supported Tarcísio as they considered him “kind”but that today there would be frustration with state management. “A lot of people who, perhaps, in 2022 thought the guy was nice, now don’t think much of it”these.
The minister also said that former members of Tucano governments have approached his political group in search of an alternative to the state government in 2026.
