Country produced 160.7 million m³ per day of the input in the first month of the year; The data are from the National Petroleum Agency
Brazil produced 160.7 million m³ of natural gas per day in January, which represents a 4.4% growth compared to the same period last year. Compared to December 2024, Brazilian gas production retreated 0.2%. The data are from (National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels). This is the monthly report of the Regulatory Agency (PDF – 3 MB).
The state of Rio de Janeiro was responsible for 76.2% of all production in the country in the month. Amazonas contributed 8% of production, followed by São Paulo, with 7%. Among the companies, Petrobras accounted for 91.1% of natural gas production. Among the private companies, Eneva is the one who had the largest participation with 4.4 million m³ per day.
The reinjection of natural gas has remained at the same level as last years. Even with a production of 160.8 million m³ per day of the input, the country returned to wells 87.7 million m³ per day of gas, equivalent to 55% of the total.
Gas return is part of a commercial oil strategy, such as Petrobras, to increase oil production. The injection of natural gas, carbon dioxide, water and other fluids increases the pressure of the reservoirs, helping to extract the oil. The lack of infrastructure for the flow of production to the land also contributes to the high reinjection rate.
Oil production fell
Oil production in Brazil totaled 3.5 million barrels a day in January, a 2% drop over the same month last year. Compared to December, production rose 0.8%.
Petrobras oil extraction had a 6%retreat. Even so, the state oil company accounted for 86.6% of all oil production in the country in January. The Santos Basin, with 27 producing wells, was responsible for 74.3% of production.
Among the states, Rio de Janeiro again occupies the ranking leadership with a total production of 3 million barrels of oil per day. It is followed by São Paulo (194 thousand barrels a day) and Espírito Santo (167 thousand barrels per day).
