The road to the compulsory recruitment of women has been paved after two parties’ assurances (the liberal alliance and far -right Danish party), which had initially opposed the measure, that they would no longer block it.

Denmark will introduce the compulsory for the summer of 2026, a year earlier than it was originally planned, the government under the leadership of Social Democratic Met Fredericksen said on Wednesday (12/3), the EFE agency said.

It should be noted that last year the two aforementioned parties rejected the defense pact signed by the other political parties, which introduced compulsory recruitment for women, thus delaying its entry into force by 2027, that is, after the next general elections.

The exclusion of this agreement required the opposition of at least two parts, so the decision of the liberal alliance to lift its veto will allow the military service for women to become mandatory for women a year earlier than expected.

‘Victory for the Armed Forces’

This is a “victory” for the Armed Forces, Danish Defense Minister Lund Polesen said Wednesday. “Denmark need a broader recruitment base and it is a good idea to be able to recruit both women and men,” he said.

Although not nearby, Denmark, led by Social Democratic, has stood out – among the most active countries – in providing military aid to.
