Carnival drives COVID-19 cases in Brazil

Data indicates 80.5% jump in the disease records in the holiday week, in addition to increasing deaths

After Carnival week, Brazil recorded an increase of almost 80.5% in the case of COVID-19. According to data from the Ministry of Health, from February 23 to March 1, the commemoration start date, 6,354 cases were recorded. The following week, until March 8, the number rose to 11,467.
