A dog that was drifting at sea was rescued by a ferry that crossed between the cities of São Sebastião and Ilhabela, on the north coast of São Paulo. The case occurred on the morning of last Saturday (6).
The animal was seen by the crew by debating in the water. The crew interrupted navigation to save the dog.
Sailor Eduardo dos Santos plunged into the sea to rescue the dog. The rescue lasted about five minutes and was filmed by people on the vessel.
After the rescue, the dog received basic care on board. A family that was on the ferry adopted the dog immediately.
PET’s new foster parents are Ilhabela residents, and have ensured that the animal will receive all the necessary care.
The ferry that rescued is from the Coordination of Crossing the Secretariat of Environment, Infrastructure and Logistics (semil) of the State of São Paulo. After the rescue, the FB-25 resumed the trip and docked at the destination around 9:20 am.
