The Dane of Mattias Skjelmosis has duped street world champion Tadej Pogacar and double Olympic champion Remco Evenepoel and surprisingly won the Amstel Gold Race. The 24-year-old from Team Lidl-Trek prevailed after 255.9 km between Maastricht and Berg en Terblijt in an epic final in the sprint in front of the two superstars. The Slovenian Pogacar (UAE Emirates-XRG) finished second at the same time, the Belgian Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step).
