The São Paulo Commercial Association will inaugurate on Wednesday (23) a “gastometer”, to be displayed in a light panel in front of the headquarters of the entity, in the center of the capital.
The data, fed in real time, will show the total amount of public sector expense (excluding interest) of executive, legislative and judiciary in the three spheres of power – union, states and municipalities.

“We have been able to create in the population the mindset that it is important to know how much each tax pays in everyday life. Today, the idea is to repeat the experience,” says Guilherme Afif Domingos, member of the Commercial Association Council and one of the authors of the idea.
Although Afif is secretary of special projects of the Tarcísio de Freitas government, the idea of showing off Brazil, official name of the “gastometer”, is unrelated to the state management.
The inauguration will take place at 14h, with the presence of representatives of the Commercial Association. According to Afif, the next step is to draw attention to public indebtedness, with an “endividometer”.
