In the US, approximately 15,000 transrodic persons whose future in the army depends on the Supreme Court’s decision.
US President Donald Trump’s administration asked the US Supreme Court on Thursday to allow the ban on the services of transrodic persons in the army while court trials with objections to this measure are being carried out. According to AFP and AP reports, TASR reports this.
Trump signed a decree on January 27, according to which “the statement of a false gender identity different from the sex of the individual cannot meet the strict standards necessary for military service”. After returning to the White House, the US President also said that the government will recognize only two genders – male and female – which “cannot be changed”.
In March, the US federal judge has temporarily blocked the validity of this prohibition, which, in her opinion, violates the constitutional rights of transrodic persons and appealed to the principle of equality. The Court of Appeal also confirmed the prohibition of the prohibition. By submitting an application to the US Supreme Court, Trump wants to reverse this decision.
In February, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth issued a memorandum that prevents transrodic persons from entering the army and stopping the gender change process for contemporary army members. All transrodic people who do not apply to the exemption assessed individually were to be removed from the active service.
According to estimates, approximately 15,000 transrodic people are estimated in the US Armed Forces.
