Telecommunications prices are going down in Europe, but in Portugal they are practically the same and remain the highest in Europe. Compared to the same month last year, despite the entry of DPU in the Portuguese market, the average prices of the largest operators remain practically the same.
In Europe, prices went down almost 2%, but in Portugal they were practically the same. According to Eurostat, the statistical office of the community space, the prices of telecommunications in the European Union dropped 1.6% over the same month last year. But in Portugal, the descent was only a tenth.
According to Anacom, this It is partly due to the annual inflation update, which is foreseen in the adhesion contracts of the three companies with the highest market share.
In 2023 and 2024, operators increased the prices of electronic communications offerings following the high inflation period observed in previous years. Any descents in the price of services was absorbed by these annual updates.
Anacom underlines that in the last year there was a large price variation over the months but, compared to March last year, everything was almost the same. The big news was the entrance – in November – from DPU in the Portuguese market.
According to ANACOM’s analysis, the Romanian operator has the lowest minimum monthly fees in seven of the 11 types of supply.
For the other services and offers, says Anacom – A VOdafone presented the lowest minimum monthly fees for the fixed telephone service and the 5play package, while the MEO presented the lowest minimum monthly fee to the television service by subscription and Introduced us to the lowest value for mobile broadband.
