Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Saturday (May 10), where he will discuss relations with Russia and the situation in the Gaza Strip. This was announced on Monday by Abbásov advisor Mahmud Habbaš, writes TASR according to the TASS report.
“The meeting will give the parties the opportunity to discuss the possibilities to strengthen bilateral relationships and cooperation in all areas, especially because there are historical ties between Palestine and Russia,” said the Palestinian President advisor.
Influence of the Israeli war
Abbas plans to inform the Kremlin chief with the situation in the Gaza Strip in connection with the continued Israeli war against the Palestinian militant movement Hamas.
According to the advisor, the Palestinian self -government expects that the upcoming visit will help strengthen their relationships and ensure that Moscow support for Palestine. The advisor noted that Russia has provided Palestinians with considerable humanitarian aid, including a donation of 30,000 tons of wheat. “President Abbas decided to hand over this aid to the Gaza band to alleviate the impact of Israeli aggression and blockade,” he added.
Political challenges
According to him, Russia shares the priority of the Palestinian self -government in connection with the calls of the Israeli War. “They include the need to end aggression, provide supplies of basic needs to the Gaza Strip, prevent the resettlement of the Palestinians and achieve a political solution based on international law,” he added.

Putin and Abbas last came to the edge of the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia last October, recalls TASS.
