The European Commission has just launched, with the objective of transforming Europe into an environment of excellence for the creation and development of technology companies with global ambition.
This strategy is part of the broader initiative “Choosing Europe”, presented by the committee’s chairman, Ursula Von Der Leyen, which intends to attract and retain talent through a concerta European approach, thus reinforcing the continent’s competitiveness.
Start-ups and scale-ups play a crucial role in the European Union’s economic future, boosting innovation, sustainable growth and highly qualified job creation. They are also decisive to attract strategic investment and reduce dependencies in key sectors. However, despite the solid scientific and technological basis, many of these companies continue to face obstacles in the transition from ideas to the market and their ability to climb at the European level.
With this new strategy, the European Commission proposes structured support throughout the business life cycle – from the initial phase to consolidation – ensuring that these companies can grow solidly and competitively within the European market.
The initiative includes measures to facilitate access to financing, simplify regulatory staff, foster transnational collaboration, and promote highly qualified talent mobility and fixation in the European space.
By leveraging existing resources and fostering a more cohesive innovation ecosystem, the Commission seeks to position Europe as a global reference in supporting emerging and innovative companies.
