In the case of many fire brigade members, memories of one of the largest forest fires of the past decades were awakened on Tuesday: In Hirschwang on the Rax (Neunkirchen district), a forest fire broke out at the Lagtag stone at the beginning of the week – exactly at the point where a huge fire caused destruction four years ago. At that time, an area of about 115 hectares was affected. A total of 9,000 helpers were required in 2021, the extinguishing work lasted for 13 days.
