At least 24 people, half of them children, died in sudden floods or houses due to heavy rainfall in Wednesday, when the monsoon era began.
“Sudden floods claimed the lives of 11 people, including four children and three women, and six people were injured” yesterday, while “56 houses suffered damage, six of which were completely destroyed,” said a report by the District Management Authority.

According to the report, 10 people, who were in the Swat Valley, died as they were dragged by a flood river.
The Punjab Disaster Management Authority, the most densely populated province of the country with a population of nearly 130 million in the eastern part, is counting 13 dead on Wednesday.

Eight of the victims are children who were all killed in the collapse of the roof or a wall of their home.
The Pakistani Meteorological Service warns of the risk of heavy rainfall and therefore the possibility of lightning floods until at least Tuesday.
