With Tariff of Trump, Mauro Viera and Wang Yi, from Foreign Affairs, talk about strengthening bilateral cooperation and joint action at BRICS
Foreign Ministers Mauro Viera, Brazil, and Wang Yi, from China, talked by telephone on Thursday (28.2025) to reinforce the approach between the presidents (PT) and Xi Jinping (Communist Party of China, left).
Diplomats discussed bilateral cooperation and the strengthening of relations between the BRICS countries. The conversation takes place at a time when the 2 countries are affected by commercial tariffs imposed by American Donald Trump.
“President Xi Jinping and President Lula da Silva established solid confidence and mutual friendship and, together, provided important strategic guidelines for building a China-Brazil community with a shared future.”said the Chinese minister.
The Brazilian chancellor said that international trade faces “Uncertainties” and that multilateralism goes through “Serious challenges”. Viera requested the coordination between the BRICS countries in the scenario.
The call was two weeks after one. At the time, in addition to dealing with the trade war, the request made by Trump was also on the agenda for those produced in the US – which, if materialized, will impact Brazil.
According to the China Ministry of Foreign Affairs, countries must intensify communication and coordination to support the multilateral trade system and promote the WTO (World Trade Organization) reform, as Mauro Vieira defended.
