Turull (Junts) states that Illa meets with Puigdemont to “Instruction” of Sánchez
The Secretary General of Junts, Jordi Turull, has criticized that the president of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, did not want to meet with the former president and leader of his party, Carles Puigdemont, at the beginning of the Catalan legislature, and that he goes on Tuesday. In his opinion, as he said in an interview on TV3, the Illa initiative arrives “more than a year late than it should have been.” Turull has regretted that Illa now recognizes Puigdemont as former president, when he had long since he had to have recognized him as a “political actor before a judiciary who has rebelled against the legislative.” He understands that the meeting will not be held in a normal climate, because one cannot speak of political normality while the former president remains in Brussels.
On whether this meeting will be an advance of a future meeting with Sánchez, Turull has affirmed that they have always defended that it occurs, since the PSOE agreed with Junts the investiture of Sánchez, but that they do not look for the photo, which they have already insisted at the time to occur, and that they no longer do it anymore. For Turull, that both were seen would be important to “look into the eyes, see if there is or not to move forward”, but it rules out that this event is a condition to support Sánchez’s governance.
