Protesters begin to cluster at Av. Paulista in an act by amnesty to Bolsonaro

Protesters begin to cluster on Paulista Avenue in São Paulo for the act in defense of amnesty to former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL). They extended a US flag in front of the São Paulo Art Museum (MASP).

Donald Trump’s government imposed rates on Brazilian exports and sanctioned ministers of the Supreme Court (STF) in an attempt to interfere with the former president’s trial.

The demonstration began at 3 pm, with tracks asking that the president of the House of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB), place the bill in voting and that Senate President David Alcolumbre (Union-AP) gives the impeachment process of Minister Alexandre de Moraes.

The Novo Party brought to Paulista an inflatable doll with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in a prisoners and, alongside, an inflatable egg in which the phrase “lost, Mané” is written in red.

This is an allusion to Moraes, called the Egg Head of the Bolsonarists, and a criticism of the condemnation of the hairdresser Débora dos Santos, who used a lipstick to peck the same sentence in the statue “The Justice” on January 8. She was sentenced to 14 years in prison.

What to expect from the manifestation by amnesty

With the motto “React Brazil: Fear is over”, the act of Sunday, 7, on Paulista Avenue occurs amid the trial of Bolsonaro and the other defendants of the crucial core for attempted coup. The STF is expected to end the case analysis on Friday, 12.

For the second consecutive time, Bolsonaro will not be present as he meets house arrest after disrespecting precautionary measures determined by the Supreme Court.

The main agenda of the demonstration is the approval of the amnesty to the former president, the defendants in the action of the coup and those convicted by January 8. Shortly before the act began by the amnesty on Paulista Avenue, the pockets sang evangelical chants and shouted “Bolsonaro Free.” With posters with sayings “SOS Trump/Bolsonaro Free” and “Election without Bolsonaro is dictatorship,” protesters ask President Lula’s unrestricted amnesty and impeachment and Minister Alexandre de Moraes to the sound of “favela ball.”

The governor of Sao Paulo, Tarcisio de Freitas (Republicans-SP), made a gesture to pockets and took over the protagonism of the articulations in Brasilia to make the proposal advance.

Unlike the last act in early August, when it was missing to perform a medical procedure, Tarcisio has a confirmed presence on Sunday. He will be the main political leadership on the stage alongside former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro (PL).

Also present will be the governors of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema (Novo), and Santa Catarina, Jorginho Mello (PL), who were not present in the previous act.

Bolsonarist strategy

The strategy of the Bolsonarists is to perform decentralized acts in several Brazilian capitals in the morning and focus on efforts and energy in the afternoon in São Paulo.

PL parliamentarians participate in mobilizations in their electoral strongholds and follow to the state capital then. These are the cases of federal deputies Gustavo Gayer (PL-GO), Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) and Sostenes Cavalcante (PL-RJ). Senator Rogério Marinho (PL-RN) also confirmed a presence in São Paulo.

Paulista federal deputies Paulo Bilynskyj (PL-SP) and Pastor Marco Feliciano (PL-SP), as well as other local leaders, such as the mayor and deputy mayor of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes (MDB) and Colonel Mello Araújo (PL), and the councilors Adrilles Jorge (União Brasil) and Zoe Martínez (PL). The presence of former Bolsonaro government communication secretary Fábio Wajngarten is also expected.
