According to the British Government’s statement, this latest sanction package is a response to the latest Russian aggression. Russia has been attacking Ukraine in recent months by a number of drones, and the airspace of Poland has also been disrupted at night on Wednesday. In a statement on its website, the British government stated that Russia used 6500 drones and missiles against Ukraine in July, ten times more than a year ago.
“International steps are needed to increase economic pressure on Russia and to interrupt key cash flows that urgently need to finance this illegal war,” British Minister of Foreign Affairs Yvette Cooper said on Friday during a visit to Kiev.
Sanctions according to British Diplomacy chief represent another stage of Britain’s efforts “Increase economic pressure alongside our security support”.
