New York is becoming a diplomatic world stage again

Every year in September, more than a hundred heads of state and government travel to the East River to New York to speak in front of the most important committee of the United Nations in their headquarters. The general debate of the UN General Assembly is considered the largest diplomatic stage in the world. Many central political initiatives are started here, but above all also started behind the stage or brought in dry towels. The focus of the 80th general debate, which starts on Tuesday, is of course the international crises and profound upheavals in the UN system.
