Commentators José Eduardo Cardozo and Caio Coppolla discussed, this Friday (24), in The Great Debate (Monday to Friday, at 11pm), about what to expect from the meeting between Presidents Lula and Donald Trump.
The expectation is that . Before the meeting, Lula stated that, if he did not believe it was possible to reach an agreement, he would not participate in the meeting.
Cardozo believes the meeting will be positive.
“I honestly think that this meeting should review the positions taken by Donald Trump to punish Brazil and why? Because the trade balance has always been in favor of the United States, when Trump gives his tariff, he says it is because of the Supreme Court’s decisions and Brazil didn’t chicken out, the Supreme Court didn’t chicken out, the President of the Republic didn’t chicken out”, he stated.
“I think they will effectively go backwards in situations to the despair of Eduardo Bolsonaro, who wanted the US to invade Brazil”, he continued.
Coppolla assesses that a statement from the former head of Venezuela’s Intelligence could be among the topics under discussion.
“I believe that a very sensitive topic at this meeting will be the denunciation of Mr. Hugo Carvajal, considered the great whistleblower of Chavista drug trafficking,” he said.
“Mr. Hugo Carvajal, who was the head of Chavista intelligence, says that all those politicians linked to the São Paulo Forum were financed by capital from drug trafficking, if this is true, if there was foreign money influencing the financing of parties and elections here in Brazil, then we will be facing another type of scandal”, he continued.
