Leftover roast? Turn it into new treats

Leftover meat after roasting often ends up in the fridge to be milked later. But few people suspect that a huge potential is hidden in them. Roasted meat has an even more pronounced taste and smell after a day of rest, so you can easily prepare a new and possibly tastier meal than the original lunch.

You know, after Sunday lunch there are a few pieces of fragrant roast left over and you’re sorry to throw them away. At the same time, they can be made from these leftovers which have juice and an idea. All it takes is a little imagination, and Sunday’s leftovers can become Monday’s specialty.

Roasted meat has an even more pronounced taste and juiciness after a day in the fridge, so it is ideal .

“Leftover meat often has more flavor than freshly baked. You just need to treat it with respect and add a little freshness in the form of herbs or lemon,” advises British chef Cassie Best.

What can be conjured from roast meat

You can thinly slice leftover pieces of pork, beef or chicken and add them to a mustard and pickle sandwich. A quick dinner, which the whole family will appreciate, will only come once or twice in the world. Roast porkit also works great as a base for a pasta salad, just add olive oil, parmesan cheese, fresh spinach and a few cherry tomatoes.

If you’re in the mood for a warm meal, try finely chopping the meat and baking it with mashed potatoes and a little cheese, creating a homemade “shepherd’s pie” in Czech. Another option is a quick Asian pan, sauté the meat with onions, garlic, soy sauce and a little ginger.

How to store and heat meat

After roasting, let the roast meat that you want to use later cool down completely and store it in a resealable container. It will last three to four days in the fridge, and even three months in the freezer. When heating, be careful not to dry out the meat. It is therefore best to heat it in the oven under the lid or in a sauce that will restore its juiciness.
