Politicians from the government and opposition bases spoke out on social media about the meeting between President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and American leader Donald Trump. The two presidents met this Sunday (26), in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This was the first scheduled face-to-face meeting between the two presidents and lasted around 50 minutes.
In Planalto, the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, and the Minister of Health, Alexandre Padilha, used social media to speak out.
Silveira published: “In Malaysia, President Lula met with Donald Trump to discuss the Brazil–USA economic agenda. Brazil resumes dialogue with the world under the leadership of a true statesman.”

In Congress, some parliamentarians from the government’s base spoke out on social media. Senator Humberto Costa (PT-PE) described the meeting between Lula and Trump as a “victory for dialogue”.
“Against all expectations, sovereignty and national interest prevail. President Lula meets with Donald Trump in a cordial and productive meeting. Focus on a balanced trade agreement. A victory for the Brazilian people and our diplomacy”, published the PT senator.

Representative Carlos Zarattini (PT-SP) criticized federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) in his demonstration.
“A bad day for the traitors to the country, including the conspirator Eduardo Bolsonaro. Trump and Lula met and discussed the bilateral trade and economic agenda. They decided to look for solutions to the tariffs and sanctions imposed on Brazilian authorities,” wrote Zarattini.

Opposition demonstration
Federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), who has lived in the United States since February 2025, used the social network “X” to publicize the meeting between President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and American leader Donald Trump, this Sunday (26), in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Federal deputy Coronel Chrisóstomo (PL-RO) also criticized the meeting. On social media, the colonel wrote: “In Lula’s face, Trump praises Bolsonaro and calls him a “great man”. President of the Chamber speaks out
The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), praised the meeting between presidents Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and Donald Trump this Sunday (26).
Motta said he was “happy” to see that “dialogue and diplomacy” had returned to “occupy the center of relations between Brazil and the United States”.
“When leaders choose to talk, History is grateful. It was like this in the great turning points of the world, always through words, never through silence. The Chamber remains at the disposal of our diplomacy, voting on important issues on the subject and committed to serving the country”, said Motta in a post on social media.
