Zambelli has conviction confirmed for armed pursuit – 10/30/2025 – Power

The (Federal Supreme Court) declared the conviction of the federal deputy (-SP) final for chasing a black man with a firearm in 2022.

With this, it is considered that the sentence can now begin to be executed, as the parliamentarian no longer has the possibility of appealing the decision. In August of this year, she served 5 years and 3 months in prison for illegal possession of a weapon and illegal restraint using a firearm.

This is Zambelli’s second conviction by the STF. The parliamentarian was also found guilty by the First Panel of the court for hacking into the CNJ (National Council of Justice) systems and inserting a false arrest warrant against minister Alexandre de Moraes.

Zambelli . After being convicted in the case related to the CNJ, she fled to the country and awaits a decision from the Italian courts and government on an extradition request made by Brazil.

The STF has already ordered the revocation of the parliamentarian’s mandate. The measure is still awaiting analysis by , which must decide whether or not to comply with the sentence.

The case of armed persecution occurred on the eve of the second round of the 2022 presidential elections. On that occasion, Zambelli argued with a journalist, who was a Lula supporter, on a street in Jardins, in São Paulo. The deputy chased the man with a gun in hand.

The score at the STF was 9 to 2 for Zambelli’s conviction in the case. At the time, the majority of ministers followed the vote of the case’s rapporteur, Gilmar Mendes, who pointed out a “high degree of reprehensibility” in the parliamentarian’s conduct.

A complaint from the PGR (Attorney General’s Office) stated that the dismissed deputy abused her right to use a weapon. Although she had regular possession, the PGR considered that Zambelli drew the pistol “outside the limits of personal defense authorization” when chasing the journalist.
