The Russian attack left tens of thousands of Ukrainians in the Zaporozhye region without electricity. They report one victim

Around six in the morning, more than 11,000 residents of the area were without electricity, according to local authorities.

Almost 60,000 people were left without electricity supplies as a result of the Russian night attack on the Ukrainian Zaporozhye region, the head of the regional military administration, Ivan Fedorov, announced on Sunday. According to him, the attack killed one person, injured three others and damaged residential buildings. Two victims were also reported by the Ukrainian authorities from the Odesa region, Reuters reported.

Russia is intensifying missile and drone strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure ahead of the approaching winter. These often cause power outages and force emergency services to quickly repair damage or regulate power outages.

Targeted almost every day

“The teams will restore electricity supplies as soon as the security situation allows,” Fedorov wrote on the Telegram platform shortly before 03:30 CET. According to a post published three hours later, more than 11,000 customers were still without power. According to Fedorov, a 44-year-old woman and a 91-year-old man suffered injuries. Images published apparently after the attack show damaged buildings.

The Zaporozhye region is exposed almost every day to Russian artillery fire, drone strikes and rocket attacks that destroy houses, damage public services and have claimed dozens of victims, Reuters wrote. In the last day, according to Fedorov, Russian forces carried out 753 strikes on 18 farms in the region in the south of Ukraine.

The port city of Odessa on the Black Sea coast was also targeted by Russian drones at night, where two people were killed and one was injured. A fire broke out in a truck parking lot in the city, engulfing five vehicles.

Attack in the Dnepropetrovsk region

Meanwhile, the number of victims of the Russian air raid on Saturday, which set fire to a shop in the Dnepropetrovsk region, has increased to four. Among them are two boys aged 11 and 14, Vladyslav Haivanenko, the acting head of the regional military administration, said according to Reuters.

According to the BBC, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that air defense systems shot down a total of 164 Ukrainian drones over several regions of Russia on Sunday night. According to local authorities, two people were injured in the Rostov region as a result of this attack.
