The Pará Military Police, as well as the Civil Police, will continue to carry out their security monitoring functions in Belém, in areas outside the COP30 perimeter.

The focus of the Armed Forces’ activities in Belém, and in the cities of Altamira and Tucuruí, will be on protecting strategic locations for energy and water supply, in addition to monitoring river and air routes. President Lula decreed the Law and Order Guarantee (GLO) valid until November 23, when COP 30 ends.

According to the Secretary of Public Security of Pará, Ualame Machado, the routes of authorities, as well as access points only for those accredited at the event, will be monitored by the UN itself, the Federal Police and the Institutional Security Office (GSI), while President Lula is in the city.

The Military Police of Pará, as well as the Civil Police, will continue to perform their security monitoring functions in Belém, in areas outside the COP perimeter.

“We have well-designed responsibilities with everyone: PM, PF, PRF, Armed Forces, without overlapping roles. Each one is the operational manager in each situation. General public security will be the responsibility of the PM. The Armed Forces will act on some blocking and access control points in specific locations”, said Ualame Machado to Jovem Pan.
