New research has found an association between having sex in the morning and greater productivity, greater confidence, and more promotions and pay raises.
A new one from health platform ZipHealth suggests that morning sex could be the most effective productivity trick yet. The survey, conducted among 1,000 full-time American workers, found that people who have sex before going to work report being more productive, motivated and focused throughout the day, with measurable benefits for their careers.
According to the study, 71% of respondents who had morning sex said they felt more productive, while 70% said they completed more tasks and more than half said they felt happier and more confident afterwards. Almost one in five said they had received a promotion in the last yearand 51% said they had received a raise.
The research revealed that the morning sex rivals caffeine in terms of providing a better start to the day: 35% said it improved their mornings more than coffee, while almost a quarter admitted to being late for work because of it.
Interestingly, the study found that Gen X and Baby Boomers lead in morning intimacy, followed closely by Millennials. The sectors with the highest pre-work sex rates were marketing, hospitality and entertainment. Among positions, executives led the ranking with 26%, followed by top managers with 23%.
In addition to the work environment, the data also points to broader emotional benefits. Participants who reported having morning sex also scored higher on measures of emotional stability, confidence and stress management than those who reserved intimacy for later in the day. Experts say this is due to the endorphins released during sex, which can reduce stress levels and improve mood.
