Prince William arrives in Brazil this Monday (3) for his first visit to the country, where he will participate in events in Rio de Janeiro.
William is expected to visit Sugarloaf Mountain, Maracanã, Christ the Redeemer and Copacabana beach, where he will play volleyball, said a Kensington Palace spokesperson.
His wife Kate, who is in remission after cancer treatment, will not be accompanying him.
while Charles was last in the region in 2009.
On Instagram, the prince wrote a message, in which he stated that he was looking forward to getting to know the country. Furthermore, he highlighted biodiversity and — which he founded in 2020 and will be held in Rio de Janeiro this week.
The project aims to find innovations to combat climate change and award five winners with £1 million each.
“As I head to Rio de Janeiro, I’m excited for my first visit and to experience Brazil’s vibrant culture, its extraordinary biodiversity and, above all, the warmth of its people,” said William.
“With the eyes of the world on Brazil this week, there is no better place to celebrate bold climate leadership. Hosting the Earthshot Awards allows us to not only recognize those driving change, but also to be inspired by them,” he added.
“When we work together with optimism and courage, a more sustainable future is within our reach,” he concluded.
