Several Pentagon officials told Reuters on Monday they were caught completely off guard by the president’s weekend order. “I think we’re all experiencing this at the same time,” said a U.S. military official who spoke on condition of anonymity. Trump had previously ordered possible actions via the Truth Social platform. The reason he gave was that Christians were being killed in Nigeria.
