We associate chanterelles with aromatic sauce or delicious scrambled eggs. Few people know that they can be eaten in powder form. It is a salvation for people with fatty liver, diabetes and those who suffer from constipation.
Fresh chanterelles are rich in vitamins, fiber and substances that support the immune system. However, their season is short and we can enjoy their taste only in summer. A good idea to include them in your diet all year round is chanterelle powder. You can buy it in health food stores and online, where it costs about PLN 50. It is worth every penny spent because it is a natural supplement without artificial fillers. Powdered chanterelles are nothing more than forest mushrooms dried at a low temperature and ground very finely. Thanks to this drying method, they retain most of their nutritional value.
Chanterelles in this form can be found under the name “chanterelle meal” or “chanterelle powder”. In good health food stores you can buy them in their pure form, without any additives or preservatives. It is worth choosing products from certified harvests, because only then can we be sure that the powder does not contain impurities or heavy metals that can accumulate in mushrooms.
Chanterelles have long been considered medicinal mushrooms. They contain substances with antiparasitic and antibacterial properties. Eating them regularly can support natural intestinal cleansing. In folk medicine, they were used to fight parasites. Today we know that this is due to the hitinmannose and trematolinic acid they contain. These compounds have a lethal effect on parasites. Chanterelle powder also helps to stimulate peristalsis, so it is often used for constipation or digestive problems.
Folk wisdom has been confirmed in modern scientific research. In a publication in the Polish Pharmaceutical Society, Polish scientists proved that they have anti-inflammatory properties and accelerate wound healing. Other studies show that chanterelles contain compounds that support liver function and help prevent fatty liver disease. They support detoxification processes, and thanks to the presence of fiber and beta-glucans, they lower blood glucose and cholesterol levels. Modern phytotherapy points out that powdered chanterelles act as a natural metabolism regulator because they support the intestines, liver and pancreas at the same time.
Dietitians recommend taking one flat teaspoon of chanterelle powder daily, dissolved in half a glass of warm (not hot) water.. It is best to drink this drink in the morning, on an empty stomach, about 20-30 minutes before breakfast. The delicate taste of the mushrooms is not intense, so the drink is easy to drink. Regular use brings noticeable results after just a few days.
The powder can also be added to soups, sauces or cocktails. It then serves as a spice with a subtle, forest aroma. At the same time, it enriches the dish with additional nutrients. However, remember not to cook it for a long time, because high temperatures may weaken its health-promoting properties. It is best to add chanterelle powder at the end of preparing the dish. Even though they are dried mushrooms, their powdered form does not require long cooking.
