This Friday morning (7/11), Operation Turkey was launched to dismantle a criminal drug trafficking scheme with the participation of civil police officers from Espírito Santo.

The action was carried out in conjunction with the Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime (Gaeco/MPES) and had the support of the Espírito Santo Civil Police Internal Affairs.

According to the PF, five search and seizure warrants and two temporary arrest warrants were served, in addition to three court orders removing civil police officers from the public duties assigned to the Specialized Narcotics Department (Denarc/PCES).

Police and drug dealers in the same scheme

The investigations began after the arrest in the act of one of the main drug leaders in Vitória, in February 2024. As investigations progressed, the PF identified strong signs of cooperation between the criminal and civil police officers.

According to the surveys, part of the drugs seized in official operations were being diverted by the agents themselves.

A fraction of the drugs, according to the investigation, were not recorded in the police reports and were passed on to intermediaries linked to the criminal organization.

Fraud and corruption

The PF points out that the group used the Denarc structure to cover up drug diversion and favor local factions, undermining the drug trafficking repression system itself.

Those investigated will be charged with drug trafficking, drug trafficking association and criminal organization.

In the case of public agents, the conduct also constitutes embezzlement and passive corruption, while drug traffickers may be liable for active corruption.
