Company announces its biggest salary investment ever. Base salary goes from 900 to 1,000 euros, and there is also a meal allowance.
It is the “largest salary investment in history”, according to the Lidl: the total is 12 million euros over the next year.
Lidl Portugal will increase the base salary from 900 to 1,000 euros gross monthly for store and warehouse operators. This is with a usual working day of 40 hours per week.
From January onwards, this 11% increase is joined by the meal allowance of 9.60 euros per day.
This means that the entry salary package becomes 1.211 euros monthly, exceeding 16,300 euros annually.
“Valuation accompanies the journey within the company: upon reaching the last step of the role, an operator’s base salary increases to 1,250 euros, increasing the overall salary package to around 19,800 euros per year”, describes Hélder Rocha, executive president (CEO) of Lidl Portugal, in a statement.
The company also provides transparent annual progressions, with minimum increases of 5%; many collaborators can increase salary twice in one year.
All workers “benefit from health insurance, extended to the household with special conditions, and also have free access to financial, legal and psychological counseling services”, adds the statement.
The measure comes into force in January 2026.
