US President spoke to the press alongside the Ukrainian leader before a meeting to discuss issues related to the war in Ukraine
The President of the United States, said this Sunday (28) that “nothing is more important than a peace agreement” between Ukraine and Russia. The North American leader gave a statement alongside his counterpart, before starting the the Republican’s residence in Florida.
When asked by journalists about the date to conclude negotiations for a peace agreement, the US president said that “his deadline is to make the war end”. According to Trump, the negotiation is quite complex, but it must continue.
“We are excited about the meeting and we will reach a peace agreement, everyone wants that to happen,” said the Republican. He said the security deal would be “strong” with European nations “very involved”.
Trump declared that there is “great economic benefit for Ukraine” from an eventual peace agreement. The Republican stated that the country also made strong attacks on Russia, but considered that he “does not say that in a negative way”.
The US president said Ukrainian and Russian leaders want the peace deal. He also indicated that he should call the President of Russia again, after the meeting.
Earlier, the Republican informed, through a publication on his profile on the social network Trust Social, . According to Russian press reports, the phone call between Trump and Putin lasted one hour and 15 minutes. They agreed to create two peace working groups, one focused on security issues and the other on economic aspects.
Zelensky, in turn, took the opportunity to thank Trump for his reception and say that the teams worked hard to draft a peace agreement, which will be discussed. “We had [grupos] Ukraine-USA working together, the natural sequence is a face-to-face meeting”, he declared.
Putin accepted Trump’s proposal
Through a publication on his profile on X (formerly Twitter), Russia’s foreign policy advisor, Kirill Dmitriev, stated this Sunday that Putin accepted the but considered unfavorable by Ukraine.
